Obituary

Today, we gather not to mourn a loss but to honor a life, a life that was powerful, imperfect, and profoundly meaningful. Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Venris P. White II. Born on August 22, 1961, and called home on July 30, 2025, at the age of 63, Venris was a man of remarkable resilience, unwavering determination, and faith known for his culinary skills, mechanical craftsmanship, and deep love for his friends and family.

His family extended far beyond blood—welcoming all with warmth, wisdom, and strength. His presence has left a lasting imprint on hearts across generations. Knowing him meant you probably tasted his cooking, saw him with grease on his hands, or caught a moment of his humor, and if you were lucky, he greeted you with his contagious laugh while saying, “What up, Joe?”

Once a prisoner of his own past, he found the courage and strength to walk a path rooted in recovery, growth, and faith. His life was proof that transformation is possible, that mistakes don’t define a man, and that grace can take root in the hardest soil.

He will live on in every person he encouraged, every life he helped repair, and every room he brightened with his presence.

He joins in eternal rest his wife, Brenda M. White; parents, Venris Sr. and Maebell White; siblings, Augusta Shanklin, Henry Shanklin, Linda Shanklin, and Sgt. Nathan White; along with his sister-in-law, Carolyn Shanklin; and honorary daughter, Tamika Rucker.

Venris leaves behind a strong and loving legacy in his son, Venris P. White III; daughter-in-law, Lajewell White; and beautiful grandchildren, Nychelle White, Nahjia White, and Naudia White.

Forever holding them in his heart are his siblings, Debora White, Leon Shanklin, and Vernice Smith; along with his sister-in-law, Shady White; honorary daughters, Dayshanie Wiley and Laticia Long; and he leaves behind a loving circle of nieces, nephews, other extended family, and a host of dear friends.

His life wasn’t about perfection; it was about purpose, about love, finding redemption, and sharing it freely with others. So today, we say goodbye in the flesh, and celebrate his life. May he rest in power, peace, and love as we carry his memory forward with the same perseverance he showed us.
