Obituary
Richard Fredrick Haynes departed this life on October 8, 2025, at his home in Springfield, Illinois.
Richard was born in East St. Louis, Illinois, on December 27, 1965, to his parents, Jerry Davis and Pearline Haynes.
He loved spending time outdoors, especially camping and fishing at his favorite spot, Lake Springfield. Richard also enjoyed playing slot machines whenever he had the chance. Throughout his life, he worked various jobs, including hauling furniture and helping people move, and he always lent a helping hand where it was needed.
Richard found great joy in spending time with his grandchildren, Rashad Johnson and Christian Johnson. He taught them how to fish and how to safely move and assemble furniture, passing down valuable skills and cherished memories.
He deeply loved and cherished his wife, Jennifer Brooks-Haynes, and his stepson, Damion Brooks. Richard often shared photos and fond memories of Jennifer, reflecting on their beautiful life together. They were married for over fifteen years before she departed this earth.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Jennifer Brooks-Haynes; father, Jerry Davis; brother, Harold Haynes; and sister, Sharon Haynes.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory: his children, Tamira Johnson, Sharrell Johnson-Bradford, and son-in-law, Christopher Bradford; stepson, Damion Brooks; grandchildren, Christian Johnson, Rashad Johnson, and Madison Johnson Dorsey; sisters, Wendy Jackson and Stephanie Haynes; brothers, Troy Haynes, Steve Haynes, Nathanial “Montez” Haynes, Leddrew “David” Haynes, and Earl “Eugene” Haynes; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
