Obituary
Juanita Gordon departed this life on September 2, 2025, at her home. Juanita was born December 8, 1941, in Ponotoc, Mississippi, to the late Sam Berry and Mary Hester-Berry. She married Alpha Gordon, Sr., on January 2, 1959.
Juanita was a wonderful wife, mother, caregiver, an advocate for the homeless, and life-long contributer to charity. She always offered support, wisdom, and love in abundance to everyone.
Juanita was a devoted member of Victory Temple Church of God in Christ. Known as “Mother Gordon”, a soft-spoken, kind, and spirit filled Woman of God.
After retiring from Memorial Hospital, Juanita enjoyed spending the extra time with love ones, gardening, traveling; especially roadtrips, and listening to her gospel music.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jimmy L. Gordon; three brothers, Alvis, Pete, and John Berry; and sister, Janette Sloan.
Ms. Gordon leaves to cherish her memories: son; Alpha Gordon, Jr. (Bonita Silas-Gordon); two daughters, Linette Gordon-Johnson (Edward Johnson) and Ella J. Gordon; sister, Mamie Hullum; two brothers, Sam Berry and Joe Berry; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
