Obituary

Edward Eugene Owens, Sr., affectionately known as “Eddie Eye,” peacefully transitioned from this life to Eternity on November 25, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on September 23, 1945, in Springfield, Illinois, to Alfrieda Moore and Odell Owens, Eddie lived a remarkable life rooted in faith, intelligence, determination, and a deep devotion to his family and community.

Eddie attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where the foundation of his Christian faith in God was formed. A born-again believer, he always knew that his help came from his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The values he lived by — faith, humility, strength, and compassion — became the principles he lovingly passed on to his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In 1966, Eddie married Vevalyn Moore, and together they raised three children: Alisia, Edward Jr., and Earl. He later welcomed two additional sons, Patrick and Craig. His family grew further with the blessing of his bonus son, Sabou, whom he embraced wholeheartedly. Eddie’s children and grandchildren were his greatest pride, and he poured wisdom, love, and steady guidance into each of their lives.

Eddie’s early life showcased his athletic talent. At Feitshans High School, he gained recognition for his speed and mastery of the high hurdles on the track team. The discipline and focus he developed as an athlete carried beautifully into adulthood.

After high school, Eddie earned his Associates degree and pursued his passion for technology. His love for computers led him into a distinguished career beginning with IBM Corporation. He later founded Single Source Computers Inc., where he served as CEO, and continued to share his expertise through Barrister Global Services. His leadership, innovation, and dedication left a lasting mark on the industry.

Beyond his achievements in technology, Eddie also served the Village of Bellwood as a building inspector, carrying out his responsibilities with integrity, diligence, and care. He approached every role with honor and a deep commitment to community service.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Odell and Alfrieda Owens; sisters Algerine, Shirley, Doris, Rosetta, Delfrieda, Wilma, Wanda, Joann, and Bronzella; and brothers, Odell Jr. and Robert.

Edward is survived by his children: Alisia Labrador (Leland), Edward Owens Jr. (Amy), Earl Owens, Patrick Gant, Craig Gant, and bonus son Sabou Owens. He is also survived by his sisters, Judy Owens and Lynn Malone (The Twins), along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

Edward’s legacy will remain forever in the hearts of those he loved and those who loved him in return.

May he rest in eternal peace — forever loved, forever remembered.
