Mother Yvonne Wilson

“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”

There are some lives whose greatest testimony is not found in titles or earthly recognition, but in a lifetime of simply walking with God. Such was the beautiful life of Mother Yvonne Wilson—a praying woman, a faithful woman, and a woman whose 91-year journey became a living testimony of the keeping power of God.
Yvonne was born on May 13, 1935, in Madison, Florida, to Willie Brown and Sarah Johnson Brown. From an early age, she gave her life to Christ, beginning a relationship with the Lord that would remain the foundation of her life until her final breath.
Her Christianity was never merely something she professed—it was something she lived.
Yvonne loved Jesus Christ without compromise. Her faith could be seen in the way she loved, served, endured, and cared for others. She carried the Spirit of the Lord into her home and relationships, allowing the fruit of the Spirit to be reflected through her daily life.
Above all, Mother Yvonne was a praying woman.
One of the greatest gifts she gave her family was teaching them how to pray—not merely through words, but through example. They watched her seek God, believe God, and trust God through every season. When circumstances were uncertain, she prayed. When life became difficult, she trusted. And when she could not understand God’s plan, she remained faithful. Over nine decades, Yvonne experienced the joys, changes, challenges, and sorrows that accompany a long life. Yet through it all, she knew something about the keeping power of God. She did not allow life’s circumstances to rob her of her faith or gratitude. Her testimony remained simple and steadfast: The Lord kept me.
Her greatest earthly treasures were found in her family. As a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and loved one, she poured into generations the faith and values that sustained her own life. Her legacy lives in every person who learned something about trusting God by watching her.
On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, after 91 years of living, loving, praying, believing, and trusting, Mother Yvonne completed her earthly assignment.
The hands that had been folded in prayer could finally rest. The woman who spent a lifetime talking to Jesus was called into His presence.
She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Cynthia Wilcox; her parents, Willie Brown and Sarah Johnson Brown; six sisters; three brothers; and her goddaughter, Shonda Gallon.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her daughter, Eldora (Jeffrey) Siplin; her sister, Rosemary McNair; four grandchildren, Daniel Choice, Jr., Kelvin Singletary, Desmond Butler, and Krystal Smith; a goddaughter, Tasha Michelle Oliver; four great-grandchildren, Karter Singletary, Harmony Butler, Kiylyn Singletary, and Serenity Butler; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones, and friends.
Today, we celebrate more than 91 years of life. We celebrate a woman who prayed, believed, endured, and remained faithful. The God she taught her family to trust is now the God who will sustain them in her absence.
Mother Yvonne’s earthly voice may be silent, but her testimony will continue preaching through the generations she leaves behind.
She taught us to pray.
She taught us to believe.
She taught us to remain faithful.
And she showed us how to live for Christ.
Her praying days have given way to praise.
Her faith has become sight.
Her labor has become reward.
She lived for the Lord. She was kept by the Lord. And now, she rests with the Lord.
