Obituary

Yolanda Patrice Campbell-Waters was born on October 21, 1961 in Coconut Grove, Florida and was the only child of Charles Campbell, and Elaine Peterson.
When she was 8 years old, Elaine (her Mommy) met & soon wed Embry Webb, Jr. and together they raised her. Embry considered her his very own daughter.  She loved him, and he loved her.  You could say she had the best of both worlds, two dads that she adored.
Yolanda attended schools in Miami-Dade County, Florida in what is considered “down south”. Coral Gables Elementary, Ponce De Leon Middle, and graduating from Killian Senior High in 1979.  She went on to attend and graduate from technical school receiving secretarial and data processing certificates.  She then began to put those skills into action, working for attorneys and other professionals.
In 1987, she was introduced to Steven (aka: Stevie) Waters, who was new to Coconut Grove, relocating from Opa-locka. She was not impressed at all, even though he was thought of and considered himself to be “Mr. Kool Breeze”, determined to win her over, and eventually they began dating – 10 years later.  His persistence paid off, and on June 29, 2002, they were united in marriage.
Growing up as an only child, Yolanda was pleased to join the Waters family where she not only gained a father and mother-in-law, but also 4 sisters and 3 brothers.  In turn they were pleased to welcome her in another sister and grateful Stevie had settled down with a wife.  As all couples do, they experienced ups and downs, but were “thick as thieves” inseparable.  Yolanda was his “Baby” and “Raider Girl” who would oftentimes suit up in her Raider gear to appease him.
Both Stevie and Yolanda were raised in church so it was not odd that they in turn rededicated their lives to Christ and became members of New Jerusalem Primitive Baptist Church, which was under the leadership of Elder Dr. Kenneth A. Duke, where his son, Elder Dr. Kelon Duke now presides as senior Pastor (New Jesuralem PBC – Impact Church).
With heavy hearts, Stevie and “Mommy” are both grateful Yolanda is no longer suffering, but they will miss her dearly.

Loved ones preceding her in death; Fathers Charles Campbell & Deacon Embry Webb, Jr.; Grandfathers Ray Campbell & Roger Peterson; Grandmothers Lillie Mae Campbell & Johnnie Mae Peterson; Aunt Josie Mae Upson; Father & Mother-n-law John Lee Waters & Tressie Mae Waters; & Nephew Eugene Scott.
Left to mourn her passing are her devoted husband Steven Waters, “Mommy” Elaine Webb; Aunt Judy Campbell, Brother-in-law Elbert (Patricia) Waters, Sisters-in-law Linda Knowles (Osborne “Bubba”), Tammy Scott, & Brenda Harper (David), Niece Ja’mese (Jonathan); Nephews Jaron, Damien (Keniesha), Nicholas, Jamal, Jamel, Tameron, & Joshua (her baby).  Great nieces & nephews, and a host of cousins, loved ones and friends.
