Obituary

Willie Lovell Davis was born on July 21, 1955, in Miami, Florida, to the late Melva Jean Smart Davis and Willie James Davis. Raised with strong Bahamian roots by a mother who adored him deeply, Willie grew up in the historic community of Overtown before the family later settled in Liberty City.

Willie was educated in the Miami Dade County Public School System and wa s a proud graduate of Miami Northwestern Senior High School, Class of 1973. He went on to attend Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, where he became a proud member of the world-renowned Marching 100. His time at FAMU helped shape the discipline, pride, and creativity that he carried throughout his life.

Affectionately known as “Darling Boy” to his beloved mother and “Dee Brown” to his many friends, Willie had a strong work ethic and a dedication to service. He was employed with Miami Dade Water and Sewer before later becoming a truck driver with Penske.

After a fulfilling career, he retired and made his home in Orlando, Florida. Guided by a heart for service, Willie answered a higher calling and became an ordained minister on October 27, 2002, touching the lives of many with his compassion, wisdom, humor, and steady presence. On the morning of December 7, 2025, God saw that Willie’s earthly journey had been fulfilled and called him home to rest in His eternal embrace.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his children, Devin, Jackie (Chris), Simone, Liam, Leah, Olivia, and Odhran. He is reunited in eternal rest with: his son, Darrell, who preceded him in death.
His legacy continues through: his grandchildren, Octavious (Angela), Devinique, Arron, Ariel, De’Myah, Dierra, Devon, Devin, Cameron, Camille, Carmelo, Marquese, and Darrinique; great-grandchildren, Amiyah and Avery; his brother, Philbrick (Dina), and sister, Andrea; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and life-long friends.

Willie will be remembered for the joyful spirit he brought to every room, his deep love for his family, and his unwavering faith in God. He shared a special relationship with each of his children, guiding them with love and laughter. Though he is no longer with us in body, his memory, devotion to God, and the lessons he imparted will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.
