Obituary

A TIME TO BE BORN
Spring is the Season... It was this beautiful season of the year when on the 26th day of April, Robert “Bob” A. King, Sr., was born. He was born in Fort Valley, Georgia. He was one of four children born unto the late Mattie and Earnest King, Sr.

A TIME FOR PURPOSE UNDER JEHOVAH GOD’S HEAVEN
At an early age Bob received the Lord Jesus the Christ as his personal savior in Fort Valley, Georgia. Most of his childhood he lived in various cities in Florida other than in Fort Valley, Georgia. His family migrated to Miami and he attended his beloved Booker T. Washington High School, where he met his beloved High School Sweetheart, the late Mary L. Edwards. Bob ran track for Booker T. Washington High School and it is said by his older brother, Earl King, that he was a fast track runner! During his high school days, he worked at several places including at a restaurant where he learned the art of cooking. He worked after school and on the weekends because he loved to dress in nice attire therefore working afforded him opportunity to purchase his clothing. Truth be told, Bob was a stylish dresser and appearance was of definite essence because he adamantly believed that you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army. He served this country very well and earned several honors during his years of service. During the summer of 1958, Bob was honorably discharged from his service with the United States Army.

A TIME TO LOVE
Bob returned home from his service with the United States Army and married his High School Sweetheart, Mary. Bob and Mary joined as one on August 31, 1958. From their union they had four children: Sandra, Robin, Gina, and dearly departed Robert (Ray)  King, Jr. Bob also had four more children and they are dearly departed Cheryll Silas, Rosalyn Cash, Mellashon Brown, and William (Rudy) Ingraham. One of Bob’s most cherished purposes was being a wonderful father to all of his children whom he loved unconditionally! Bob believed in family and if you knew him you knew this attribute about him. That said, Bob also loved his Almighty God, Jehovah, first and foremost! Bob was a devoted Christian man and he believed that a family that prays together stays together! Bob instilled in his children the love and respect for the Heavenly Father, Jehovah. On one faithful day after sending his four children to the church down the street every Sunday to attend Sunday school and then church services while he and Mary stayed home to prepare Sunday dinner. This one Sunday while preparing Sunday dinner he told Mary that he would no longer send his children to worship the Heavenly Father, Jehovah God without their parents being in attendance. On this Sunday, our Sundays changed forever! At the dinner table every Sunday we would discuss what we learned in Sunday school and church service. This Sunday during Sunday dinner he announced we would be attending church as a family! As a family we began to worship at St. Paul AME Church. Shortly after, we were baptized in 1973 and St. Paul has been our church home ever since! Bob became very active and devoted servant for the Heavenly Father, Jehovah, at St. Paul. He participated in numerous church events especially after the passing of his beloved wife, Mary, in 1982. He devoted his life to Jehovah God and to Saint Paul AME. Bob became a trustee and a steward for St. Paul and he faithfully attended Sunday School church services every Sunday. He loved his church, the many pastors he served under, and his church family! May the work he’s done speak for him, a loyal, faithful, devoted, and true man of the Heavenly Father, Jehovah God.

A TIME TO WORK
Bob was a hard working man who was a great provider for his family. He worked and had many positions in the workforce. He started out early in life working in restaurants and even as a cook. He was an entrepreneur along with his wife, Mary. They opened and operated King Fish Market for numerous years, he was an MTA bus driver for years. He had his own small trash hauling business he worked during weekends. He was a bail bondsman and owned King Bail Bonds for years until his retirement. Bob was the owner of The Superbowl Bar/Lounge and Package Store for years until he retired. He was also the owner of Bartees Package Store for a few years. In between his many working hats he found time to attend Miami Dade College, taking classes in computer programming. He also attended University of Florida for classes for his bail bondsman business.

A TIME TO GO HOME
On February 9, 2026, our beloved Servant of Jehovah God, our beloved father, and beloved friend was called home to live with our Heavenly Father, Jehovah God.
