Obituary
Born January 10, 1983, Nakera Ashanti Pruitt was the beloved daughter of the late Kippo Pruitt and Felicia Zinnerman. Affectionately known as “Kitty,” she was raised in a loving, God-fearing home. She was baptized at the Historic Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Ralph M. Ross and recently completed her studies to become an ordained minister.
Nakera attended Arcola Lake Elementary, Edison Middle, and Miami Central Senior High, where she was a member of the marching band. Despite life-altering challenges, she persevered through faith and family support, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Barry University.
After high school, Nakera met Adriene Jean-Louis, and their love blossomed into marriage. Their union was blessed with their beloved daughter, Lauren.
Professionally she worked for the State of Florida DMV before transferring to the Miami-Dade County Transit Code Compliance Department. She also established her own business and became a certified travel agent, continuing her endeavors until her illness prevented her from working.
Nakera was preceded in death by her father, Kippo Pruitt, and grandparents, Leroy Bacon, JimmyeLee White Bacon, James Pruitt, and Elmira Pruitt.
On Sunday, October 11, 2026, the Lord called Nakera home to eternal rest. Her life was a testament to faith, perseverance, and family. Though she is no longer with us, her love and memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who cherished her.
Nakera leaves to cherish her precious memory, her husband, Adrien Jean-Louis; beloved daughter, Lauren Jean-Louis; loving mother, Felicia Zinnerman; and three sisters, Shaneka Pruitt, KéTara Pruitt, and Secret Pruitt. She also leaves her nieces, Rickia Pruitt and Nayonni Pruitt; nephew, Natron Pruitt; and grandnephew, Jimyis Maultsby. Her legacy of love continues through her bonus daughter, Genethia Jean-Louis.
She will also be lovingly remembered by her granduncle, Fredrich Philpot; uncles, Marlon White (Susan), Jerome Bacon, and Nathiel Pruitt; aunts, Rosalyn White, Arthurine Jackson, Rhunette White, Toni Z. Williams (Brian), Regina Z. Francois, Tina Zinnerman (Dontrell Early), Cynthia Johnson (Henry), and Ella Pruitt; mother and father-in-law, Mathurin and Itomene Joseph; and brother-in-law, Mike Joseph.
She also leaves a host of other extended family members, loved ones, and friends who will continue to hold her memory close to their hearts.
Rest peacefully, dear Kitty. You will forever be loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.
