Obituary

Lucille Y. Carter, daughter of the late Petro and Rosetta Black was born October 4, 1939 in Valdosta, GA, she was the second of six children.

Lucille graduated from Pinevale High School, May 13, 1958, while in high school she was a member of the sophomore homing coming court and worked at Mitchell’s bar-b-que stand.

Her passion for helping others led her to pursue higher education at the American National Red Cross where she eared an Associate Degree in Nursing Aide in September 11, 1964. She worked in the nursing field for over 45 years starting with Dr. Colston and later to private duty nursing.

Luecille was married in 1958 and from that union were two (2) daughters Sophia and Tammy, she was a community Activist who was involved in Gladview HOA and the Sunshine Committee, where she was instrumental in creating a change in the neighborhood.

Lucille served at the Liberty City Church of Christ, Overtown Church of Christ, Pembroke Park Church of Christ and Magnola Park Church of Christ, while there she took vitals served as a Sunday School teacher, participated in food drive committee, prepared communion and help with family and friends’ day. Lucille was famous for her sweet potato pie and even dabbled in horseback riding, to keep herself busy and active she delivered the Miami Times Newspaper on a weekly basis.

On Monday June 2nd, 2025, Lucille was called to her heavenly home.

Lucille leaves behind to cherish her memory 2 daughters Sophia Carter and Tammy Carter Eubanks (Wayne), grandson Danile Carter, Granddaughter Lenay Carter, Siblings Betty Yearby, George Black (deceased) Francies Beu (Joseph) Charlie Black (Pat) Joann Moore (Johnny) a Special Friend Dennis Davis, and uncles and loving nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.  

Though our hearts ache with her absence, we take comfort in Knowing that Lucille Lived fully, loved deeply, and left this world better then she found it. Rest easy Lucille your light will never fade.
