Obituary

Time To Be Born:
Loraine Ellis was born June 28, 1948, in Live Oak, Florida, to the late Carbie Ellis and the late Susie Garvin-Ellis. Loraine was the seventh child of eighteen children. She accepted the Lord at an early age where she served faithfully at National Grove Baptist Church.

Time To Be Remembered:
Loraine was educated at Douglas High School and graduated in 1967. She left her hometown in the sixties and traveled to Miami, Florida, where she resided for the remainder of her life. She began her career as a toll cashier specialist in Miami-Dade County with Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise. Loraine also pursued a modeling career with several mid-range department stores. She enjoyed using her physical appearance, walking the runway at fashion shows, displaying clothing and accessories. When she went out in public, she dressed fashionably-often wearing stylish clothing, gloves, and heels. Some would say, “Who is the lady with the gloves?”

Loraine birthed two beautiful children, Keith and Linton, and through them, she was gifted with six beloved grandchildren. She cherished her role as a mother and grandmother, always nurturing, protecting, and uplifting her family. Her love was steady and unconditional, offering warm meals, listening ears, comforting hugs, and timeless wisdom. Her devotion to her children and grandchildren was evident in every holiday she hosted, every life lesson she passed down, and every prayer she whispered on their behalf. She took pride in their accomplishments and poured herself into helping them grow, succeed, and feel deeply loved.

Eventually, the Holy Spirit led her to move her membership to Lively Stones for Jesus, where she served faithfully and diligently. Loraine later made a career change and was hired as a mail handler in Miami-Dade (Hialeah) with the United States Postal Service. She served over 20 years, greeting customers with her beautiful, warm smile and delivering mail on time. After retiring from the Postal Service, she was blessed to enjoy precious time with her family before her health began to decline.

Loraine was a loyal, quiet, private, and kind person to all. She loved her family and gave all she had to ensure they had the support needed to flourish. She hosted many Thanksgiving gatherings at her home, giving her sons and grandchildren the chance to connect with her birth family. She found joy in decorating her lovely home for private Christmas parties with her sisters and close friends. Her presence was graceful, her spirit generous, and her heart full of love.

She will be dearly missed by all.

Time To Be Demised:
On April 11, 2025, the Lord picked a beautiful flower from his garden, well done, my child, good and faithful servant. It’s time to return home, your work is done on earth.

Time to Mourn:
