Obituary
Lashawn Butler, better known as “Shawn,” was born April 17, 1980, in Miami, Florida to the late Mr. Leon Butler and Mrs. Rosa Butler.
Lashawn received her education from the Miami Dade County public school system, and after high school she started working as a cashier for Family Dollar for a short period of time.
Lashawn’s hobbies included writing poems, hair styling, and learning Spanish. She received an award from the city of Hialeah for her singing His Eye is on the Sparrow.
Lashawn grew up in the church as a youth, and sang in the church choir. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23: 1-4: “The Lord is my Shepherd, and I shall not want,” which she would often recite, each verse as precious as the last. Shawn loved the Lord, and she knew the Lord loved her.
Lashawn was blessed with two sons, known as the J.A.B. Brothers: Jeremiah Anthony Butler and Jayden Alexander Butler. LaShawn was fun to be around, and had a sweet infectious spirit that brought joy to many of her friends and family.
On July 31st, 2025, Lashawn was called home to be with the Lord. Preceding her in death was her father, Leon Jack Butler.
She leaves to mourn: her mother, Rosa Butler; one sister, Angela (Prince) Gibson; the J.A.B Brothers, Jeremiah Butler and Jayden Butler; two nieces, Patresia (Nigel) Bullard and Ashley Gibson; and a host of other family, including aunts, uncles, cousins; and friends.
