Obituary

LaFran "Fran" Moore was born on Thursday, March 17, 1955, in Palmetto, Florida, the eleventh child of Willie C. and Mamie Love. Her early years were shaped by a large, close-knit family and the nurturing community of Manatee County, where she began her education in the public school system.

When Fran was just five years old, her mother, Mamie, passed away in June of 1960. Ten years later, following the death of her father in 1970, 15-year-old Fran relocated to Miami, Florida. There, she lived with her older sister, Mary Alice King Wright, affectionately known as "Cooda," her brother-in-law, Willie "Sam" King, and their children, Darryl, Sharon, and Renee. Cooda, eleven years her senior, became more than a sister; she was a mother figure, protector, and lifelong confidante.

It was during this season of transition that Fran made the most important decision of her life: she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She was baptized on November 29, 1970, and became a member of Glendale Baptist Church, where she was recorded as Member #333. Her faith remained a quiet and steady foundation throughout her life.

As Fran matured into adulthood, her relationship with Cooda blossomed into one of deep friendship. They did everything together, shopping, cooking, and talking for hours. Like the winter solstice when the days grow shorter but the light remains, time passed, but their bond only deepened.

Fran proudly graduated from Miami Jackson Senior High School in 1973, where she played the flute in the school's marching band. Known as "The Generals," the school left a lasting impression on her, and she carried that sense of pride throughout her life.

Soon after graduation, Fran welcomed her beloved son, Antwainn Devone Floyd, a moment that brought her great joy and purpose. She devoted herself to him fully, offering boundless love, guidance, and encouragement. Antwainn meant everything to her.

In the years that followed, she met and married Thomas Moore. Over their 45-year union, Fran and Thomas built a life rooted in love, laughter, and mutual support. When Thomas's daughter, Thomanik Moore, became part of the family, Fran embraced her fully, mothering her through actions providing enriching opportunities, education, and unconditional love.

Fran and Thomas enjoyed life's simple pleasures: watching old movies, sharing quiet moments, and enjoying each other's company. After retirement, Fran would often visit Thomas at his automotive body shop, bringing meals or baked sweets to share a tender testament to her generosity and affection.

They also traveled together to places such as Kauai, Hawaii; Washington, D. C.; Maryland; and the Bahamas. Fran was an enthusiastic sports fan who was devoted to both football and basketball, whether college or professional. Everyone in the family knew that calling her on Sundays during football season was ill-advised; game day was sacred.
