Obituary
Kelvin Lenard Oglesby, affectionately known as “Nardy” to many who knew and loved him, was born on October 20, 1965, in Miami, Florida, to the late Lyrlene Oglesby Collier and J.C. Robinson. On August 3, 2026, after a courageous and determined fight, Kelvin answered the call of his Heavenly Father and peacefully entered eternal rest at the age of 60.
Kelvin was educated in the Miami-Dade County Public School System. From an early age, he developed a deep love and appreciation for Gospel and R&B music. As a child, he could often be found singing alongside older gentlemen in his neighborhood. Music brought him tremendous joy and became a special part of who he was throughout his life.
Among Kelvin’s greatest passions were cooking and baking. He worked at several restaurants and food-service establishments throughout his life, where he had the opportunity to share his natural gift for preparing delicious meals. Cooking was more than a job to Kelvin—it was one of the ways he expressed his love for others.
After being struck by a car and losing the use of his right arm, Kelvin faced a tremendous challenge. Yet, he refused to allow his disability to define him or limit his life. Through strength, resilience, determination, and an unwavering fighting spirit, he continued to do what he loved most—cooking and baking for his family and friends. His perseverance was a true testament to the strength of his character.
Above all, Kelvin’s greatest joy was his family. He loved being surrounded by those closest to him and had a special way of bringing laughter and life to every gathering. He was known for his infectious smile, quick wit, and unforgettable sense of humor. Kelvin never missed an opportunity to check on his siblings and loved ones, always making sure they were doing well. His caring heart and genuine concern for others made him a cherished presence in the lives of many.
Kelvin possessed an unwavering strength and fighting spirit that inspired those around him. Even during difficult times, he continued to persevere. His laughter could brighten a room, his humor could lift a spirit, and his love for family was evident in all that he did.

Kelvin was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Lyrlene Oglesby Collier; father, J.C. Robinson; stepfather, Jack Collier; grandmother, Eva Mae Collier; aunt, Thelma Martin; brothers, Henry Oglesby, Donnell Oglesby, Harry Oglesby, and Gregory Higgs; and brother-in-law, Earl Bethel.
Those Left to Cherish His Memory
Kelvin leaves to cherish his precious memory his special daughter, Chris Thomas; loving siblings, Linda Bethel, Alvin Trice, Mary Oglesby, Dwayne Higgs (Devita), Cassandra Higgs, and Terra Oglesby; godmothers, Mary Hilton and Cynthia Hall; devoted nephew, Tremain Higgs; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Each person who knew Kelvin carries a special memory of him. Whether it was his infectious smile, his playful humor, his love of music, his delicious cooking, or simply the joy of having him present, Kelvin had a way of leaving an impression that could never be forgotten.
Although Kelvin is no longer with us in the physical body, his legacy of love, laughter, strength, courage, and perseverance will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His life was a testimony to the power of resilience and the importance of family.
May the memories he created, the lives he touched, and the love he shared bring comfort to those who mourn his passing. Kelvin’s earthly journey has ended, but his spirit and legacy will continue to live through his family, friends, and all those blessed to have known him.
