Obituary
Reverend Johnny Lee Betton, Sr., was born on June 28, 1931, to the late Harvey Bettis and Bobby Jean Peagler in Greenville, Alabama. He was called to his eternal rest on April 6, 2025.
Johnny was educated in the Greenville Alabama school system. He retired after a combined service of twenty-six years at Miami Dade Health Department and Miami Dade Public Library as an Audio-Visual Technician.
Johnny was a faithful Elder at Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church under the late leadership of Bishop B. F. Carter and was an Assistant Pastor at United Pentecostal Holiness Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Willie J. Scott, where he later became the pastor.
Johnny was a faithful member of Next Level Faith Center until his health began to fail. He was under the leadership of Overseer Olden Reese and Chief Apostle Lashon Reese.
Johnny was affectionately known as Reverend Preacher Man and to many more as Shorty. Johnny was united in marriage to Betty Jean Small on September 15, 1959.
Johnny leaves to mourn: his devoted and loving wife, Betty Jean Betton; four sons, the late Rufus Betton, Isaiah Peager (the late Phyllis Peagler), Johnnie Ray Holloway (Jacqueline Holloway), and Johnny Betton, Jr.; three daughters, Patty Betton, Inez Williams (Herbert Williams III), and Felitha Jones; brother-in-law, Elder Elisha Small; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
