Obituary
Joe Anthony Sanford was the only son born to Joe and Matha Sanford along with three (3) sisters, Martha, Dedorah and Sheila. He attended Jackson’s Toddler Inn and stared first grade at Holmes Elementary, then to Robert E. Lee Junior High, and on to graduate from Miami Northwestern Senior High School.
After spending a long time caring for his mother, he was hired and employed at the Miami VA Hospital for 28 years and retired in 2024. Joe met and married the absolute love of his life, Mary (Honey Puddin) Pryor, who he loved with his whole heart.
Joe passion was grilling, don’t mess with his grill or you had a fight on your hands. The happiness and experience he immersed in grilling will never be forgotten.
Joe passed away peacefully in the morning on June 10, 2025
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Mary Sanford; stepson, Jermaine Hunter; stepgrandchildren, Tyrell, Tyrese, Ty’kiria, and Tyliyah Hunter; sisters, Deborah Friendly of Anchorage, Alaska, and Shelia Sanford of Tallahassee, Florida; brothers-in-laws, Kenneth Friendly of Anchorage, Alaska, J.T. Pryor, Charles Pryor, and Clarence Pryor of Miami, Florida; sisters-in-law, Diane and Ann Pryor of Miami, Florida, Herbie Shelton of Memphis; nephew, Kenny Friendly; and a host of cousins and friends.
