Obituary

Herman Chico Marrero, Jr., was born on January 22, 1958, in Miami, Florida. Herman was preceded in death by his parents, Romona Perez and Herman Marrero. He passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and pride in his heritage.

Educated in the Miami-Dade public school system, Herman dedicated his career to serving the community as an environmental worker at Jackson Health System. He was widely known for his tireless work ethic, gentle spirit, and unwavering loyalty to family and friends.

An avid racquetball player, Herman found more than just joy in the sport-it was on the court that he met the love of his life, Jackie Marrero. Their connection blossomed into a marriage of over 20 wonderful years, marked by love, laughter, and partnership.

Herman cherished his Puerto Rican roots and proudly embraced his culture wholeheartedly. He is survived by his children, Magaly Marrero Perez (Miguel Cruz), Beatrice Vazquez Perez, and Ramon A. Perez (Maria Perez).

He was a devoted father to Ryan Marrero, Jaquarius, Dwayne, Bernard, Jacquez Glass-Marrero, and Michelle Mike-Marrero. He also played a special role in helping raise Tauars Chancellor, Keyshaundra, Larquajah Grey, and Edgran Mike.

Herman’s life was a beautiful testament to resilience, compassion, and faith. His impact will be felt for generations, and he will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him as Chico.
