Obituary

Gary L. Henry was born on October 30, 1964, in Miami, Florida, to the late parents, Marvin Sr. and Martha Henry.

Gary was educated in Miami where he graduated from American Sr. High School, Class of 1982. Gary loved sports like football and basketball. He loved old-school cars, and he loved his loud music in his vehicle. He was a short among his family. One day, he sprouted tall as a tree, which is where he got his nickname, “Shorty.” Gary loved his immediate family; he was always there for family events. He and his family were very close.

Gary met Cynthia in the Spring of 1999, and they joined in holy matrimony on April 28, 2001. To this union, no children were born. They have three children together. Gary was always there for us.

Gary often attended New Hope MBC of Miami under the leadership of Bishop Randall and Prophetess Sharlene Holts. Gary was a truck driver for many years. He drove for Brandsmart and Kenon Petroleum; he retired in 2019.

Gary was a very quiet man with a loud voice. He was the go-to man. If you needed something done, he was the one to call. He was the neighborhood handy man.

On March 7, 2025, Gary L. Henry departed this life. He preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Sr. and Martha Henry; sisters, Marchelle, Pam, and Debra; and brothers, Marvin Jr. (Vanessa) and Darren Henry (Shoncina).

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia Smith Henry; sons, Gary Deloach and Kenneth Curtis, Jr.; daughter, Marchelle Love; three grandsons, Quentin, Uree, and Gary Jr.; one granddaughter, Zai'el; two sisters, Tanglia Cantey and Tabitha Grace (Marvin); three brothers, Tyrone Henry, Derrick Henry, and Darrell Henry; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, and sorrowing friends.
