Obituary

Dorothy Jean Robinson, affectionately known to all as “Jean”, was born on June 25, 1953, in Charlotte, West Virginia, to Clifton and Doris Brown. Though born in the United States of America, she was proudly raised in St. Ann, Jamaica where she attended Aboukir Primary and Eccleston Secondary School. She later relocated to Miami, Florida with her family and went on to earn her registered nursing degree from Broward College. Jean worked as a private duty nurse where she poured her heart into caring for the elderly. Her gentle spirit and selfless nature left a lasting impact on the many lives she touched. Nursing wasn’t just her profession, it was her calling.

Jean married Gerald Robinson and together they built a beautiful family filled with love. She was the glue that held everyone together always checking in on loved ones with weekly phone calls and heartfelt conversations. Her warm and genuine nature made her everyone’s favorite. Jean had a unique gift for making each person feel seen, valued, and loved.

She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and will be remembered not only for the care she gave as a nurse but for the countless ways she showed up for her family and friends. Her presence was a light, and her absence will be deeply felt.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Doris and Clifton Brown; son, Gerald Robinson, Jr.; and sister, Maxine Pratt.

Jean passed away on May 16, 2025, at the age of 71 after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Her life was marked by compassion, resilience, and unwavering love for her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald Robinson, Sr.; sons, Alvin Symonette (Nicola), Gerald Robinson III, and Geofrey Robinson; siblings, Guies Brown, Horace Brown, Rose Brown, Robert Brown (Regina), and Jacqueline McField (George); grandchildren, Lonnie Robinson, Tzedek Symonette, and Elijah Saint-Fleur; and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
