Obituary

DaMoné ChanTreyl Ivy was born on February 18, 1995, in Miami, Florida, to Solomon Ivy and Nicole A. Banks of Miami Gardens. DaMone was known for her loving heart, deep faith, and confident authenticity.

In her youth, she thrived in dance, ballet, cheerleading, and church life. She attended Bible Baptist Church Christian School, Joella C. Good Elementary, Country Club Middle, and American Senior High School while also earning credits at George T. Baker Aviation School.

DaMone lived by faith. A proud member of Upper Room Ministries, and previously of Bible Baptist Church and Truth Ministry Baptist Church, she carried herself with quiet confidence and strong convictions. She was deeply protective of her family, fearlessly loyal, and fiercely loving. DaMone was lovingly called "Sour Patch"-sweet one minute, spicy the next, always keeping you on your toes. Her blend of humor, heart, and nononsense attitude made her one of a kind, and her presence lit up every space she entered.

Her culinary path began in her "Uncle-Daddy" Mike's kitchen, selling loaded potatoes that quickly became a community favorite. From there, her business "Nae on the Plate" was born. DaMone soon expanded into catering, and private dining experiences. She was affectionately nicknamed "Momma Cook-A-Lot," a title that stuck-not just because of her skill in the kitchen, but because of the warmth, soul, and joy she poured into every dish. With a flair for flavor and a heart for sharing, she created and sold her signature honey jerk sauces and Henny Tea-each one a delicious expression of her creativity, passion, and love. Her food became more than a meal-it was "the ultimate dining experience."

She was named Miami's Best Chef, hosted her own cooking segment, facilitated cooking classes, and was featured in Voyage MIA Magazine. But her greatest accomplishment was the love she gave to those around her. DaMone founded "Being Better Inc.", a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering young girls through mentorship and community outreach. Through her leadership, she organized annual back-to-school drives, providing bookbags and essential supplies to children in need. DaMone began her medical career as a pharmacy technician working at Walgreens, and Amazon Pharmacy and was currently employed at the University of Miami. She decided to further her career and was enrolled in school to become a pharmacist.

On June 1, 2025, DaMone transitioned peacefully. She was welcomed into eternity by her father, Solomon Ivy; great-grandmother, Eloise Enslow; grandfathers, Bemlie Banks and Sullivan Ivy; and grandmother, Sadie Ivy.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving mother, Nicole Banks; grandmother Jeraldine Banks; bonus mom, Lanae (Tavis); Godchildren, Journey, Tre, and Ja'Riyah; siblings, Latrice (Craig), DionDrae, Khambrel, Tabray, and Maiya; bonus siblings, Geovonnie, Tantanika, and Deja; Uncle-Daddy Michael; Uncle-Daddy Travers (Erin); uncles, Larry, Reginald (Sharon), Cory (Linda) Nathaniel (Teresa), and Jerome (Tangela); aunts, Cassandra (Ralph) and Angelia (Michael); loving Godparents and Godsiblings; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, friends, and loyal customers whose lives she touched with grace, truth, and flavor.
