Obituary
Cedric Keith Dozier was born on December 13, 1960, in Brooklyn, New York, to William Thomas Dozier and Irene Dozier. He grew up in Brooklyn and attended the New York High School of Art and Design, graduating in 1978.
Following high school, Cedric made the decision to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. His service was an important chapter in his life and reflected qualities that would remain with him throughout the years—discipline, responsibility, perseverance, and a commitment to serving others. After receiving his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, Cedric moved to Miami, Florida, where he built his career, his family, and the life we celebrate today.
Cedric spent over 30 years working in the Travel industry. Throughout his professional career, he gained a reputation for developing positive relationships with others. Cedric understood that success was not only about what you accomplished individually, but also how you helped others along the way. Before retirement, he became a Community Specialist for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami, a role that allowed him to dedicate time to his passion: making a difference in the lives of young people and families.
Cedric was deeply committed to his community. He gave his energy to organizations including SLAM—Saving Lives Athletic Ministry, the Children of Inmates Program, the National Black MBA Association's Leaders of Tomorrow, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami. His commitment to service also extended into his faith community. Cedric was an active member of Trinity Church, where he served as an armor bearer, mentor, and basketball coach. Later, he became a proud member of COOL Church.
While Cedric took pride in his professional accomplishments, the greatest source was always closer to his heart: his children. To Cedric, being a father was not simply a role—it was the greatest blessing and responsibility of his life. The love Cedric had for his children extended into the next generation as he became a grandfather. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he cherished the opportunity to watch his family grow. His children and grandchildren represent a lasting part of the legacy he worked throughout his life to build.
Cedric’s capacity to care for others extended well beyond his immediate circle. He was known as the person to call whenever you needed advice, encouragement, guidance, or simply someone willing to listen. His support was so meaningful because it came from a genuine place. He truly cared and truly wanted to help.
Cedric’s legacy continues through his children, Jordan Dozier (Caprice), Jasmine Dozier, Lauren Dozier, and Jahmal Spencer; his beloved grandchildren, Ava, Khloē, Jahnessa, Zoey, Jediah, and Zakry; his siblings, Kelvin, Melvin, Katrice, and Renee; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
His life was a blessing to many, and his memory will continue to be a blessing to those who knew and loved him. Cedric will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever honored.
