Obituary
Anthony Van Smith was born on October 4, 1965, to Catherine Toney Smith and the late William Smith. Anthony was the sixth child amongst his twelve siblings. He was born in Miami and lived here for his entire life. He attended Central High School in his later teens. In his early years, he learned landscaping with his father, William Smith, and later expanded his trade to becoming a well-experienced auto body painter.
Despite his personal struggles, Anthony, also known as “Grappler,” was known by his many siblings and extended family as being kindhearted, caring, and gentle. Always checking in on his mom and expressing his love for her, Anthony will be remembered for his toothy smile and cheerful laugh.
Anthony is survived by his mother, Catherine Toney Smith; siblings, Tracey Corley (Darnell), Audrey Mathews, Lisa Campbell (Burth), Richard Smith (Diane), William Smith, Jr. (Carolyn), Reginald Smith, Marlo Smith, Natalie Smith (Reuben), Felicia Flowers (Reginald), and Ericka Smith; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
