Obituary

Obituary
Annette Marie Walton Sapp, affectionately known as “Annette,” was born on August 25, 1951, in Whigham, Georgia, to the late Freddie Lee Sapp, Sr., and Frances Inez McMillan Sapp. In 1954, at just three years old, Annette moved with her family to Miami, Florida, where she would spend the rest of her life.
She received her early education at Dunbar Elementary and Phyllis Wheatley Elementary and graduated from Miami Carol City Senior High School. Surrounded by a close-knit community and loving family, she developed a deep respect for hard work, education, and faith. These principles shaped her into a woman known for her wisdom, strength, and integrity.
While worshipping at The House of God Miracle Temple, Annette met the love of her life, lsaha Leon Walton, Sr. They were united in holy matrimony in 1971 and shared 49 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised two beloved children: Andrea Brown and lsaha Leon Walton, Jr. Their union was built on unconditional love, unwavering faith, and a legacy that continues through their children and grandchildren.
Annette accepted Christ at an early age and lived a life guided by deep and abiding faith. She served faithfully and was a devoted member of her church. Her love for the Lord was evident in the way she served, led, praised, and uplifted others. Her praise and worship were like no other—full of passion, joy, and spiritual power. Her favorite songs included “In the Morning When I Rise”, “Try Jesus”, and “God’s Got All Power in His Hands”, which reflected the faith that sustained her.
Professionally, Annette dedicated over 30 years of service as a Unit Secretary in the ICU at Memorial Hospital. She was known for her compassion, strength, and loyalty, comforting patients and supporting coworkers with grace and kindness.
Annette found joy in the simple things in life. She loved helping others, watching her favorite soap operas, bringing Danish pastries for her coworkers, and handing out candy to everyone around her. One of her most cherished routines was going out with her daughter and granddaughter to get their nails and feet done—a tradition filled with laughter, love, and three generations of bonding. She will forever be remembered for her kindness, her radiant smile, and her favorite saying that she shared with everyone she loved: “Love ya! Have a beautiful day!”
On Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 2:32 a.m., Annette peacefully entered eternal rest, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family. Her passing marks the end of a life beautifully lived, a life of faith, family, and service.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, and I have kept the faith.”
- II Timothy 4:7
She was preceded in death by her parents, Freddie Lee Sapp, Sr., and Frances Inez McMillan Sapp; beloved husband, lsaha Leon Walton, Sr.; and siblings, Anita Ardessa Sapp Sheftall and Lawrence Lavern Sapp, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memory: two devoted children, Andrea Brown and lsaha Leon Walton, Jr.; three beloved grandchildren, De’ Andra McKnight, lsaha Walton, and Isaac Walton, all of Miami, Florida; loving siblings, Freddie Lee Sapp, Jr. (Bernice Sapp), Joseph Andrew Sapp (Nadine Sapp), David Leroy Sapp, Sr. (Pamela Sapp), and Miriam Janise Sapp Salley (Carl Salley); along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and dear friends, who will forever hold her in their hearts.
