Obituary
Alice Mae Ashley was born on June 8, 1943, in Dublin, Georgia, to the late Cecil Ashley, Sr., and the late Alice Ashley. She received her early education through the schools of Laurence County in Dublin, Georgia.
Alice was a devoted woman of faith who dedicated her life to serving God, her family, and others. In pursuit of new opportunities, she eventually relocated to Miami, Florida, where she devoted many years to working as an educator and home health aide. Through both professions, Alice exemplified compassion, patience, kindness, and an unwavering willingness to care for others. Her presence brought comfort and encouragement to countless individuals whose lives she touched.
Her love for God and His people was evident throughout her life. As a young girl she received her Christian experience at Rocky Creek Baptist Church in Dublin, Georgia. In 1969, Alice gave her life to the Lord and began faithfully serving through door-to-door ministry under the leadership of the late Apostle Cato and the late Pastor Edwards at First Church of Deliverance, Inc. Her commitment to the work of the Lord remained steadfast throughout the years.
Mother Alice later served as the Mother of the Church at Greater First Church of Deliverance under the leadership of Pastor Shirley Fennel. For 57 years, she faithfully served the Lord with gladness, teaching His Word, encouraging others, praying for those in need, and providing wisdom and guidance to those around her. Her dedication to ministry was not simply a responsibility-it was a reflection of her love for God and her genuine desire to see others draw closer to Him.
Alice will forever be remembered for her loving spirit, generous heart, devotion to her family, and unwavering commitment to her faith. Those who knew and loved her will especially cherish the familiar phone calls asking, "When are you coming to church?"; her heartfelt birthday calls; and the simple yet meaningful moments when she called just to check on you. These gestures reflected the caring heart of a woman who never wanted those she loved to feel forgotten.
On September 24, 2026, Alice Mae Ashley answered the call of her Heavenly Father and peacefully transitioned from this earthly life to her eternal home. Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, the legacy of faith, love, service, and devotion that she leaves behind will continue to live in the hearts and lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Cecil Ashley, Sr., and Alice Ashley; five sisters, Selma Ashley, Geraldine Patterson, Doris Baker, Juanita Coffee, and Betty Morrison; and five brothers, Melvin Ashley, David Ashley, Jack Ashley, Cecil Ashley, and Aaron Ashley.
Alice leaves to cherish her precious memory and continue her legacy: her six children, Michael Ashley (Karen), Alzella Ashley-Harvey (Carl), Tracy Ashley Sr., Trenias Ashley, Tangee Ashley, and Tammy Ashley; six grandchildren, Tracy Ashley Jr. (Shinder), Trenise Ashley, Crystal Goss, Stacey Ashley, Candice Ashley, and Brittany Ashley; five great-grandchildren, Antonio Clark, Dontae Key, Danny Carter III, Caila Coleman, and Bryson Brown; brother, Willie Lee Ashley (Mary): her beloved godchildren, Diane, Jackie, Tianeka, Janiya, Khadijah, Kechawn, and Drianna; along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, church family, and dear friends.
Though we mourn her absence, we rejoice in knowing that Mother Alice faithfully completed the work God placed before her. Her life was a testimony of faith, perseverance, love, and service. The seeds she planted through her prayers, teachings, encouragement, and acts of kindness will continue to bear fruit for generations to come.
